Oanh Ngo Usadi is a Vietnamese American author, essayist, and storyteller. Born in Sài Gòn and raised in the Mekong Delta, she fled Việt Nam with her family as part of the post‑war refugee exodus. They eventually settled in Texas, where her father opened a bánh mì sandwich shop and the family began the long process of rebuilding their lives.
Oanh’s writing draws from lived experience and cultural observation, examining immigration, exile, foodways, identity, and the ties that bind families across generations. Her work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and Forbes, among others.
She is a featured storyteller on The Moth Mainstage and a frequent guest at literary festivals, universities, and community events.
